We had a special visitor this morning - a 3rd grader came to teach us how to use a coding website. He had the students work in teams to create a project in 25 minutes. They learned the basics of how to code on scratch.mit.edu. The students loved this activity! I am excited for them to now be able to use this as a choice in the morning when they arrive to school. Be sure to ask them about what their team created!

Our Morning Work
Every Monday the students choose what they would like to do for morning work for the week. There are many choices; Computer, Reading, Teamwork (games), Art, Problem Solving and Word Fun. They stay in that choice for the week and are able to get their day started with something they enjoy and look forward to. Here are some pictures of our morning work from today.

Last One...
As I sit here in our quiet room with chairs stacked, drawers empty, boards blank...I can't help but think about this school year. What an awesome year it was! This class was one of a kind - we truly loved each other! There were a lot of tears shed yesterday. As I gave out awards, read kind words about each other, read a poem and said our good byes many of us couldn't help but cry. Like I said- we truly loved each other. We were a family over the last 10 months and it was hard to say good bye. Many kids said, "Mrs. Pilliod your eyes are watering". My response, "Yes of course they are, I am really going to miss each and every one of you." But it was also filled with happiness and excitement. Thank you again for sharing your wonderful children with me. This class was a blessing and I feel really proud about this school year. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe summer. Please come see me next year!
Love, Mrs. Pilliod

Reading Presentations
Over the last several weeks each student picked a topic that they were curious about. Then they researched that topic through a variety of sources (books, articles, websites and databases). After lots of learning the students had a choice as to how they would present their knowledge to their classmates. They created posters, typed books, google slides and videos. All of us learned so much from each presentation. They did an AWESOME job! We hope you learn something too!
