Your first peek into our room!

Today was a great day! I thought I would give you your first peek into our classroom during the day!  Today we brainstormed with partners.  The students thought about these 4 sentence starters...
1. This year I want my classmates to...
2. This year I don't want my classmates to...
3. This year I want my teacher to...
4. This year I don't want my teacher to...
We made an awesome list and these will become our classroom expectations for the school year.

Later in the day each student wrote down 2 truths about their summer and 1 lie.  We shared around in circles and they had to guess their partners lie.  They had a lot of fun with this!

First Day of Second Grade

We have almost made it through our first day and it has been great! We spent the day getting to know each other, organizing our materials and learning about second grade.  I hope each child has something positive to say about their first day.  Coming home in your child's take home folder is a blue technology release form.  I would LOVE to be able to post pictures of your child throughout the year on this blog. If you would like to see pictures of your child and their work on the blog, please send that form back as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please ask!  Thanks again and I look forward to a great school year!

Welcome to Second Grade!

Dear Second Graders and Families,

I hope you had a great summer!  I can't wait to meet on on Thursday, August 6 during the Meet The Teacher Open House from 4:00-5:00. Come meet me, see your new classroom, find your table spot and drop off your supplies.
My family and I have been very busy this summer.  Mr. Pilliod, Charlie (my 3.5 year old son) and I traveled to Disney World. We met Mickey Mouse, Olaf, Elsa and many more Disney characters. We also visited some of our favorite St. Louis attractions!  I can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when school starts on August 12th.
I know you are going to enjoy second grade and all of the wonderful things we will do. One of my favorite units is learning about the life cycle of the butterfly.  We will watch caterpillars grow and change into butterflies.  We will also learn cursive, go on a few field trips and read a lot of great books.  It is going to be an exciting and fun year!
I look forward to having you in second grade!  I hope you enjoy your last few days of summer!
